Fred Waugh Assumes Role as Vice President, Alliances at Convio

Nonprofit and Convio movement to open, flexible systems creates momentum and opportunities to expand programs and services for Company’s growing community of service and technology partners

Convio, Inc. – the leading provider of on-demand constituent relationship management software and services to nonprofit organizations – today announced Fred Waugh has assumed the newly created position of vice president, alliances. Waugh previously served as vice president, marketing. 

“Over the past year we have made significant progress in opening Convio’s software to third party applications, as well as leveraging salesforce.com’s Platform as a Service for our new constituent relationship management system, Common Ground,” said Gene Austin, chief executive officer of Convio. “Given the movement of nonprofits toward more choice and flexibility it was clear that now is the time to enhance and expand our relationships and the programs and services we provide to partners in the marketplace. With deep technical understanding and a decade of experience with Convio and the nonprofit sector, Fred is uniquely qualified to help us strengthen relationships and programs within this important community inside the nonprofit market.”

Waugh is responsible for developing, expanding and strengthening Convio’s strategic plans, programs and communication processes with service and technology providers, as well as third party developers who are building applications around Convio’s open platforms. He will lead efforts to expand choice for the nonprofit market through integration between applications from multiple vendors via Convio’s open application programming interfaces (APIs), supported by knowledgeable consulting and implementation partners. Waugh will lead the expansion of Convio’s portfolio of integrated third party applications which are at the heart of Convio’s Open Initiative. Convio clients already benefit from integrated applications for community (ThePort Networks), mobile advocacy and donations (Mobile Commons) and Facebook (Charity Dynamics) to name a few. In early 2009, Convio will launch the Company’s authorized implementation partner network to help client and partners work together to get the most from their technology investment.

Waugh joined Convio in 2000, with more than 15 years of experience in successfully bringing technology solutions to market. Prior to Convio he was with Tivoli Systems (an IBM company), where he was responsible for strategy and marketing around Tivoli's line of Internet and messaging management products.He has also held product management and marketing positions at Compaq Computer, Sun Microsystems and Farallon Communications. He began his career as a business journalist. Waugh holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a BS from Boston University.

Convio previously announced that Sara Spivey has joined the Company as Chief Marketing Officer filling the position vacated with Waugh’s move to lead the alliance programs.
