Cancer Research UK Implements Cloud-based Convio TeamRaiser™ to Help Event Participation and Fundraising

New Online Event Fundraising SaaS Available in the UK for the First Time

Cancer Research UK is using Convio TeamRaiser™ to increase participation and fundraising for its Relay For Life event series.

Convio, which supplies its cloud-based fundraising, marketing and CRM software to more than 1,500 U.S. nonprofits, has made TeamRaiser available to UK charities for the first time. It will provide Relay For Life with a fully branded online platform that allows registration, online donations, real-time fundraising reporting, event management, email capability and social media integration to maintain engagement with participants all in one easy-to-use package.

Relay For Life is a unique celebration of life and hope, organized by volunteer committees. Months of fundraising culminates in a fantastic family and team event, which unites communities to help beat cancer.

“Investment in Convio TeamRaiser is central to our ambitions for growing Relay For Life,” said Simon O’Leary, Head of Volunteer Fundraising at Cancer Research UK. “TeamRaiser allows us to provide a better experience to members of the public who are registering for our Relay For Life events and crucially provides more integrated fundraising capability that we can use to drive incremental income growth. We are very proud to be the first organization in the UK to be using TeamRaiser and look forward to working with Convio in the future to further develop our on line processes for Relay For Life.”

TeamRaiser comes with an array of features to help Cancer Research UK maximize participant fundraising for Relay For Life. As well as individual event participants being able to track their own progress, TeamRaiser provides robust reporting at every level. Cancer Research UK has a real-time picture of how all Relay For Life events are doing, has better access to donor data and is able to manage the complex accounting and logistical challenges of an event spanning a twelve month period.

“Using integrated cloud-based software is by far the most cost effective and efficient way for charities to make the most of online channels and build more valuable long-term relationships with supporters,” said Martin Campbell, UK Managing Director, Convio. “The American Cancer Society has been using TeamRaiser since 2005, during which time it has increased online revenue by 48 percent, so we hope to see a similar increase in funds raised for Cancer Research UK’s Relay For Life.”

Personalized emails and messages, so important to engaging event participants, can now cascade all the way through the organization from “Relay For Life Chairs” through to team captains, to participants and their supporters. TeamRaiser is also fully integrated with social media, with participants able to sign in using their Facebook or Twitter log-ins and spread the word to their friends and family, while the Flickr and YouTube integration makes it easy to share photographs and videos from Relay For Life events and even embed them on the website.

Convio entered the UK market in July 2011 with the acquisition of third-sector online fundraising and web development agency Baigent Digital and works with over 50 UK charities including UNICEF UK, Salvation Army UK & Ireland and Action for Children.
