Convio, Inc. Names David Hart Chief Technology Officer

Promotion Recognizes the Company's and Market's Desire for Open, Collaborative, and Integrated Vision of Technology and Online/Offline Data

Convio, Inc. today announced the promotion of David (Dave) Hart to Chief Technology Officer. In this position, Hart will interact with clients, partners and other leaders in the nonprofit community and with teams across the company to provide the vision, direction and guidance for Convio's technology, products and integration strategies. As part of this role, Hart will continue to drive Convio's Open Initiative, a combination of applications, integration tools, APIs (application programming interfaces) and partnerships to meet the nonprofit sector's growing need to tap the power of the new Web. The Open Initiative further opens Convio's technology platform for clients, partners and developers to integrate applications and data around the Software as a Service model to provide choice, interoperability and technological innovation for the nonprofit community.

"Dave has made a tremendous impact on our technology vision and creating the collaboration and openness that will drive the next generation of innovation for our clients," said Gene Austin, CEO of Convio, Inc. "He has real insight and passion for the integration of applications, technologies and data to solve the needs of our client community, while enabling development around and integration with emerging technologies, Web applications and platforms such as Facebook, Google and Salesforce.com."

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Hart joined Convio in 2000 from Tivoli Systems (an IBM company). At Tivoli he held the role of Consulting Engineer, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, where he was responsible for the technical direction and architecture for the company across multiple business units. He previously held the role of Development Director, where he led large engineering teams of up to 80 people across different locations. Prior to Tivoli, Hart spent 15 years at GTE Data Services and Northern Telecom.

David holds a bachelors degree in Mathematics from Brown University and a masters degree in Engineering from the University of Texas.

Hart replaces David Crooke, Ph.D, a co-founder of Convio, who is leaving to create another entrepreneurial venture.
