Convio, Inc. Names Gary Allison Vice President of Engineering

Industry Veteran Brings Extensive Professional Engineering and Client Service Experience to Leading Nonprofit Technology Partner

 Convio, Inc. — a trusted partner that leads the way in helping nonprofits use the Internet strategically to get extraordinary results — today announced that 20-year technology industry veteran Gary Allison has joined the company as vice president of engineering.

Allison adds 20 years of experience in software engineering, quality assurance and customer service to the Convio team. His expertise includes scalable and highly available systems software, relational database architectures, usability and design, as well as progressive leadership and management of global development teams. He has proven experience in successfully bringing products to market in a variety of technical arenas, including network file servers, database servers, Web and wireless application development and deployment, and Web/database integration.

Before Convio, Allison was a senior vice president of software development, data center operations, and customer service at Simdesk Technologies, Inc., a provider of a secure, on-demand computing service for schools, businesses and entire populations. At Simdesk, Allison led all software development and customer service activities to deliver a highly scalable on-demand computing platform, in addition to overseeing operations of Simdesk's 24x7 datacenter. Prior to Simdesk, Allison was at Pervasive Software, a developer and marketer of systems management software for corporate IT environments. At Pervasive he directed all worldwide engineering and support functions and helped decrease the company's tech support incidents by more than 50 percent while driving innovation that resulted in more than 20 releases of the company's flagship product.

Allison graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University, and holds a Master's degree from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. The position will report to Dave Hart, Vice President of Operations.
