Convio, Inc.'s Customer Roster Up by 70 Percent; New Business Drives Significant Increase in Year-Over-Year Sales

Convio, Inc. — the leading provider of software and services to help nonprofits use the Internet for building strong constituent relationships and driving support — grew its customer base by 70 percent over the past year, with new client wins during the first half of 2005 contributing significantly to the increase. Convio now serves more than 400 nonprofit organizations, including many of the nation's most prominent and influential groups. Among the company's newest customers are the American Red Cross, Thirteen/WNET New York and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Adoption of Convio's market-leading solution by these and other customers has driven continuing strong sales performance. Year-over-year growth rates for bookings during the last four quarters ranged from 55 to 70 percent. Convio expects to book business in excess of $20 million in 2005. The company remains firmly on track financially, advancing on its plan to become profitable and cash flow positive.

"Convio started with a great vision for helping the philanthropic sector, built the best management team in the industry, and has ample financial backing from top tier venture capital firms," said Chris Hollenbeck, Managing Director, Granite Ventures. "The company is taking the right approach for building a sustainable long-term business — healthy but manageable growth, great people and culture, and a partnership orientation with customers. We're excited and proud to be part of this business."

Since its founding in 1999, Convio has raised more than $37 million in venture funding. The company has grown organically by adding customers and scaling the organization accordingly. Convio also has invested continually in enhancing its technology infrastructure to keep pace with expansion of its client roster, and has 125 employees, an increase of about 40 percent since the same time last year.

"I came to Convio two years ago because the company had the key elements to be a strong leader serving the nonprofit marketplace," said Gene Austin, CEO, Convio. "We have been aggressive yet prudent in developing the most robust and highest return-on-investment Internet solution for today's charitable organizations. And, we listen closely to respond to the needs of our customers. Our business is continuing to grow steadily because we've built it correctly from the ground up."
