Convio and Network for Good Enter into Strategic Relationship to Improve Donor Engagement for Small and Medium-Sized Nonprofits

In response to recent research pointing to the need for charities to develop stronger relationships with donors online, Convio, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNVO) and Network for Good today announced a strategic relationship to provide donor management technology tools and training to small and medium-sized nonprofits starting in mid-2011.

The relationship will provide nonprofits with the Convio Common Ground CRM powered by Network for Good’s online transaction processing system. Common Ground allows nonprofits to manage supporters in one cloud computing-based database, with an integrated online donation solution and simple integration with a variety of email campaign tools.  Cloud computing solutions run on the Internet, thereby reducing many of the hassles commonly associated with installing on-premise technology. Convio and Network for Good also plan to work together to expand Network for Good’s training on donor management for nonprofits.  Network for Good provides training and tips to more than 150,000 nonprofit professionals each year, free of charge, as part of its mission to drive more resources to charity through technology.

“This is a tremendous relationship for us,” said Tom Krackeler, vice president of Common Ground for Convio. “Network for Good is a well-respected organization that has done an incredible amount to help nonprofits leverage the power of the Internet. We believe this relationship will make it easier for Network for Good clients to reach, inspire and engage supporters, and make it simpler to manage that relationship through Common Ground. Additionally, clients will benefit from the vast resources and best practices that Network for Good and Convio bring to the table.”

Network for Good said months of its own research inspired its strategic partnership with Convio.  “Network for Good recently completed a major study into online giving, and the most striking finding was how much the giving experience influences donor behavior,” said Network for Good CEO Bill Strathmann.  “We want to ensure that the smaller nonprofits we serve have access to sophisticated, yet easy-to-use tools like Common Ground to allow them to connect with their supporters in the most compelling way possible.  Good relationships are the prerequisite to great fundraising.” The study is available at onlinegivingstudy.org.

Online giving continues to be the fastest growing fundraising channel for nonprofits, jumping 40 percent from 2009 to 2010.
