The initiative included a segmented email campaign to 18,000 supporters, a postcard mailing, blog postings, social media outreach and advertisements on Facebook, NYTimes.com and in The New York Times – all of which drove individuals to the organization’s campaign landing page. The campaign was so successful that the goal was nearly attained within a few weeks.
FinalistsBoys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta is an Innovator finalist for its growing its online fundraising exponentially. In two years, annual revenue has doubled, the housefile grew by 64 percent in the first year, communication has been consistent and donor focused, and messaging and timing have been integrated with offline communication.
The Sierra Club is an Innovator finalist for its creative small dollar ($10) fundraising campaign in response to a well-known radio talk show negative remarksafter the Gulf Coast oil spill. Emails, a landing/donation page, a homepage image tile, and Facebook and Twitter posts were created with a picture of the radio host and language about making him the organization's top fundraiser. From all sources Sierra Club raised $141,170.23 in three weeks with an average gift of $25.22.
